ALPINE - The rails are back up and running in Alpine, but still no word on what caused more than 80 cars to jump the tracks Tuesday night.

Workers have temporarily fixed the tracks with rows of paneling to get the line working again, near Highway 90 and FM 1703.

However, six hundred feet of rail still needs to be replaced.

86 cars flew off the tracks around midnight on Tuesday.

Crews first thought one of the cars was leaking a toxic chemical, but soon learned it was harmless.
