ODESSA - An Odessa neighborhood getting back to normal after a stand-off had their block tied up for hours.

The whole thing started just before lunch time in the 1300 block of Century.

According to Odessa Police, they were responding to a call about a depressed man who was off his medication.

When police showed up, the unidentified man refused to come out.

Authorities closed the block around the house and called in the SWAT Team.

"It's a precaution that law enforcement takes to call out the SWAT Team just in case it gets any more serious.  We always try to be one step ahead," Cpl Harvey Enriquez with the Odessa Police Department, said.

The standoff was over by 1:30 when the man gave himself up to police and was taken to the hospital.

Burnett Elementary, which is just around the corner on Maple, was locked down for about 20 minutes as a precaution.

We're told the man was never any danger to anyone, or himself, and didn't have any weapons.

No word on whether or not charges will be filed.
