HOBBS, NEW MEXICO - An update on one of those large grassfires we told you about on Monday.
Hobbs fire officials are making a correction regarding the size of the blaze they battled for more than 12 hours, they're now estimating the fire scorched about 10,500 acres, and not 40,000 thousand acres, which they previously reported.
According to the fire marshal, firefighters from 15 different stations from Hobbs and Lovington battled the big blaze that started on Highway 483.
They briefly evacuated about 100 residents, but eventually allowed them to return.
No word on yet on the cause of the fire.
Some 80 firefighters were on the scene until about one Tuesday morning putting out hotspots.
No one was hurt, and no homes were damaged.
We're told one shed was burned, along with some fences and power poles.
