Evacuated Residents in Snyder Heading Back To Their Homes

SNYDER - Dozens of residents in Snyder are moving back into their homes after massive grassfires forced them to evacuate.

Firefighters think it all started around Blockline Road and spread out of control from there.

NewsWest Nine has learned 64 residents from Snyder Health Care were evacuated around 3 Saturday afternoon.

Many of them are back inside, but some have smoke inhalation.

In addition, dorms at West Texas College were evacuated as strong winds helped to keep the fires going.

The school says all students are accounted for.

We've also confirmed with Snyder Police that the fire also knocked down power and damaged power lines in some areas.

The good news, still no reported injuries.
