MARFA - If some city leaders get their way, the Marfa lights will soon be turned off.
A proposal being put together could call for all city street lights to be shut off.
The reason, the high price of electricity.
City Coordinator Jim Mustard says Marfa spends more than three thousand dollars a month to keep more than 250 street lights going, and that's money they could be put to better use.
There are several options being worked including cutting the number of lights by half, or by leasing individual street lights to people who want the light in front of their home or business.
Whatever proposal they come up with will be taken to the City Council at the end of the month.
