ODESSA - The Odessa City Council is still considering putting a civil service law in place.

Despite firefighters pulling a petition asking to put in on the ballot.

The City Council is scheduled meet Tuesday to talk about possibly calling for an election.

The civil service law establishes certain rules regarding hiring and promoting firefighters and police officers.

The Odessa American reported back in January the firefighters who submitted the petition filed a withdrawal saying they wanted more time to educate the public about the act.

This past November, voters in Midland turned down a similar civil service proposal.
