MIDLAND COUNTY- After a massive fire spread from Martin to Midland Counties Friday, members of DPS took a helicopter up to find out exactly how much land burned and how the fire moved.

The Texas Forest Service discussed their "after action review" Saturday. The fire Friday burned almost 25 miles and 8,924 acres North of Midland.

"As with anything else you learn from experience," said Pat McWilliams, "If you go back and anylize what happened there, you might some factor that might be mitigated or changed next time, either to control the fire earlier or possibly not to have it start to begin with."

McWilliams recommends residents follow safety tips provided by the Texas Forest Service.
