WEST ODESSA - A West Odessa man accused of murdering his wife may face a mental evaluation, but that's going to be up to a judge.

The sheriff's office says her husband, 60 year old Jan Clark claimed he was performing an exorcism on her when she died.

Investigators say he told them he was trying to get the demon out of her, and it jumped into him.

Preliminary autopsy results show Clark was suffocated.

Investigators say they found her body wrapped in a sheet with a cross and sword on top of it inside the house.

Clark remains in jail on a murder charge.

Clark's bond has been set at 300-thousand dollars.

He has requested an attorney.
