MIDLAND/MARTIN COUNTY LINE - One grassfire in Greenwood just wouldn't die.
Firefighters had to return on Tuesday to put out more hotspots.
Fire investigators will never know what sparked a big grassfire in Greenwood on Monday.
The blaze scorched more than 650 acres near the Midland and Martin County line.
High winds and dry brush helped the flames take off.
After combing a vast area, investigators say they couldn't pinpoint exactly what sparked the blaze.
Several fire departments along with the Texas Forest Service pitched into to help put it out.
That took about 3 hours.
At point it threatened a home, but firefighters were able to keep the flames away.
