ODESSA - With a vote of five to two.
E.C.I.S.D. Board members approved a two year program, aimed at redesigning the Career Center.
A week ago, members considered reorganizing the campus and converting it into an Advanced TecnologicalSschool.
Which meant students would have to attend either Permian or Odessa High school to receive their core classes.
But now with this two year program, Sophmores and Juniors enrolled at the Career Center will be able to graduate with their class.
Officials believe this program will not only help the Career Center get back to being a career driven campus, it will also offer competency based education.
"It will open up career and technology, because we want an Advanced Technology Center for the ECISD and for all the kids here," Curtis Britt, Director of the Career Center, said.
School officials also said that the Career Center is not only about at risk students, but students that are interested in taking career driven classes.
