Metal Chain Being Blamed for Grassfire Near Loop 338

ECTOR COUNTY - A metal chain is getting the blame for a grassfire near loop 338 in Ector County Friday Afternoon.

The fire started around lunchtime near Kermit Highway and the Loop.

Firefighters believe sparks from a chain being dragged along the pavement by a trailer or wrecker ignited the blaze.

15 firefighters responded to fire which was about 100 feet wide, and get this, about four miles long.

They were able to get it under control in about 45 minutes.

No homes or businesses were in it's path and no one was hurt.
