Midland Memorial Hospital hosted a meeting on Thursday with International ties.

The purpose of the meeting was to bring in members of VIST A, an electronic information system together to talk about ways to improve the program.

The organizer of Thursday's conference, David Whiles, was happy to see this global connection come to the Permian Basin.

"I'm very glad that we're able to be able to host the meeting.  I think we were a very early adopter, in fact, we were the first adopter in the United States, the Vist-A system in the private sector outside the Veterans Administration, and are very interested in helping to promote the adoption of the system in the private sector throughout the United States as well as there's a good bit of International interest again in implementing what the VA has developed over the past 20 years," Whiles said.

The program was orginally developed by the U.S. Department of Veterans for use in V-A Hospitals.
