Texas man accused of killing and eating ex girlfriend

Friends and family of a 21-year-old who East Texas police said was killed and mutilated by her boyfriend tried to put aside the grisly details of her death.

Friends of Jana Shearer continued posting tributes and goodbyes on what appeared to be her MySpace page.

Police said they think Shearer died from blunt trauma to her head.

Officers found what they thought was her ear boiling in a pot on a stovetop at the crime scene, and a hunk of flesh on a plate, impaled on a fork at the kitchen table.

Her boyfriend, Christopher Lee McCuin, 25, has been charged with capital murder in her death. He made his initial court appearance Monday.

According to reports, McCuin told investigators that God made him kill Shearer.

Authorities say it is unclear whether McCuin consumed any part of the woman's body.

Shearer's sisters said they're trying to focus on her life instead of her death.

"We don't want her to be remembered for that," sister Melissa Shearer said. "We want her to be remembered for the life she lived."
