A New Mexico man wanted on multiple warrants is behind bars after a two hour stand-off with police on Wednesday night.

27-year old Richard Leyva was arrested on the south side of Hobbs, after officers got a tip he was in the area.

According to Hobbs police, once they tracked down leyva, they called in the SWAT team, due to his violent past.

After a couple of hours and police threatening to use tear gas, we're told Leyva came out and surrendered to police.

Two other people in the house were also taken into custody.

One was arrested for having drug paraphanelia, the other was released.

Richard Leyva remains in the Lea County Detention Center charged with trafficking methamphetamines, and fleeing from police.

His bond is set at 55-thousand dollars.
