BIG SPRING- One local woman found out the hard way that the Nursing home she works for didn't have enough cash in the bank to cover her check.

"I went to HEB, Quick Cash and the Bank, they don't have enough funds to cash the checks," said Maria Enriquez who quit the Mountain View Lodge Nursing Home, and is in the process of filing a claim with the Texas Work Commission.

"I don't understand how it's running like this," said her husband Simon Sanchez, "We were going to use the money for Christmas presents here. Here we are after Christmas, we still have that check, and we can't cash it no where."

Covenant Care out of Houston handles the payroll, but when we called the Mountain View Lodge, the employee over the phone admitted they too had trouble cashing their check.

"It's sad, because I can't pay my bills," said Enriquez.

The manager at the nursing home told Newswest Nine, it's no secret the nursing home has had trouble with its paychecks, but they hope to get a new umbrella company in by next month.

They hope then their payday woes will subside.

"I think it's not fair at all, she's a hard working woman, not only do I speak for her, I speak for all the other employees there," said Sanchez.
