U.T Permian Basin held it's regular graduation ceremonies on Saturday, but one Odessa woman now has a degree from the University no one else can boast.

Melissa Aguirre is the first graduate from UTPB's Industrial Technology program.

She says after graduating Magna Cum Laude with the Degree she hopes to be successful in a oil, gas, or Engineering company, but she says she hasn't done it alone.

"I hope they are proud of me.  I have three children, The oldest is 13 and the youngest is four, and my husband, we've been married five years now.  Very supportive, they supported me through the whole deal , helped out at home and you know, just gave me support, and not give up," Aguirre said.

From here, she hopes to continue her education.

She says UTPB is a good school, and she is planning on getting her masters degree next.
