Luminant joins FutureGen

Texas' largest energy provider is joining the FutureGen project.

The FutureGen Alliance announced on Thursday that Luminant, formerly TXU, has become the first Texas based company to join the national non-profit organization.

Railroad Commission Chairman Michael L Williams, who is leading the Texas effort to bring the one-point-eight billion dollar project to the Lone Star State said the Luminant commitment to the FutureGen Alliance is a milestone for the project.

Odessa and Jewett, Texas along with two Illinois sites are finalists for the near zero emissions power plant.

An announcement on the location of the site is expected on December 17th.
