It was called out as a grass fire, but when West Odessa Volunteer Firefighters arrived, they found out it was a little more than that.

More than 50 tires, two cars, a pick-up, and an abandoned trailer were all on fire when firefighters reached the scene near Hasty and Sir Barton, around three o-clock.

Firefighters had to call in for more water for the flames that burned around two and a half acres, and was moving toward two houses.

When it was all said and done, more than a thousand gallons of water were used to get the fire out.

Volunteers stayed on the scene to make sure the hots spots didn't spark back up.

No one was hurt, and no word yet on what started the fire.
