MIDLAND- Starting Saturday December 1st, instead of filling up your gas tank to head to New Mexico, you will be able to book a flight thanks to a new airline in town.

New Mexico Airlines will offer two flights to Hobbs per day and they plan to offer flights to Ruidoso and El Paso with the possibility of one day offering flights to Abilene and San Angelo. Travelers who fly New Mexico Airlines, will board a nine seat single engine caravan style Cessna.

"People will come up to the gate and say I am getting on that little thing and when they're all done they get off they say I can not believe how smooth it was and how quiet it was," said Chief Pilot Dave Jones.

New Mexico Airlines hopes to target business travelers and those for a weekend a way.

"It's going to be a time saver and not to mention safety. It's always safer to fly than to jump on the road," said Director of Airports for the City of Midland, Marv Esterly, "It's going to give travelers in Midland and the whole Permian Basin a route into New Mexico."
