ODESSA- Crews spread a combination of gravel and salt, along roads and bridges to keep slush and snow from causing serious accidents. The Texas Department of Transportation have worked around the clock to keep the roads safe but officials say its better to stay off the roads if you can.

"You'll see our trucks out. They are scattering it near over passes and bridges," said Public Information Officer for TX DOT, Glen Larum, "The worst for today, will be tonight when all our roads freeze."

Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year, but Larum warns drivers must be cautious when they hit the streets for black Friday and as they return home from their holiday.
