CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Eddy County Assessor Karen Robinson plans to sue the County Commission.

She wants to force commissioners to let her do an audit of the oil and gas industry's personal property in the county.

Robinson says it's her duty to assess everyone fairly and ensure the county receives the property taxes due to it.

She says the commission is stopping her from hiring a company to conduct the audit, harming her ability to do her job.

Robinson received two bids from companies experienced in oil and gas audits.

She took the bids to commissioners last month, but they did not award a contract.

Eddy County Attorney Cas Tabor says the commission's failure to act gives Robinson the right to go to court to try to proceed with the audit.
