EL PASO, Texas (AP) - A New Mexico man accused of sexually assaulting at least 13 women in their homes in Mexico was formally notified of the charges today.

Thirty-two-year-old Gustavo Haro was in court in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, across the border from El Paso.

He was arrested Sunday in Juarez and remains in custody.

Mexican authorities claim the U.S. citizen from Sunland Park, New Mexico, targeted women in middle class neighborhoods since August 2006.

Police say the attacker often made his way into the homes of victims by knocking on their doors to ask for jumper cables for his stalled car.

The man sometimes showed a gun and forced his way in.

El Paso police helped Mexican authorities identify Haro after receiving a partial license plate number and description of his vehicle.
