New developments on some Permian High Debate Team Members caught with alcohol on a school trip.

They're all being sent to Alternative School.

A mandatory punishment under school policy.

That's the word from the School District, and it may not be the only punishment they face.

They could still be suspended.

State troopers caught the students on Friday on their way to a debate team competition in Abilene.

Investigators say their school bus was pulled over on the access road of I-20, just outside of Tye.

Troopers checked to make sure everything was okay, and that's when they found several students vomiting on the side of the road.

One girl was found unconcious on the bus, and was taken away by ambulance.

At first students told the troopers, fumes from the engine were making them sick.

But later admitted to drinking Everclear.

Half of the students on the bus were given tickets for either minor in possesion or minor consuming alcohol.

The school district says campus administrators are still investigating.

It will probably last a couple of more days.

As of now, officials say there is no evidence that any action should be taken against the team sponsor.
