A 19-year-old Wisconsin man has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing a woman who answered an online job posting for a baby-sitting job.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Scott County Court, Michael John Anderson allegedly shot and killed Katherine Ann Olson when she came to his home in response to the ad he'd placed on Craigslist.
The complaint says Olson was shot in the back with a .357 magnum.
The gun and shell casings were found in Anderson's home.
Blood was found in his bedroom, on his shoes and on the stairs leading down from the level where the bedroom is located.
A neighbor saw Olson's gold Hyundai Elantra sitting in front of Anderson's house for over two hours on Thursday, the complaint said.
Police say Olson was not sexually assaulted.
The 24-year-old Olson left her apartment in south Minneapolis on Thursday morning to inquire about the job and never returned home.
Her body was found Friday night in the trunk of her car, which had been abandoned in a Burnsville's Kraemer Park Reserve which is about five blocks from Anderson's residence.
Her purse had been found in Warren Butler Park in Savage earlier that day.
Inside was her driver's license. Below it was a garbage bag that contained a bloody, blue bath towel that had Anderson's name on it in black marker.
Inside the towel was Olson's smashed cell phone.
Anderson has been in the Scott County Jail since he was arrested Friday night.
On Tuesday bail was set at $1 million.
