The Ector County Coliseum was the sight of a long-awaited unveiling on Thursday.
A large bronze statue now stands in front of the main entrance.
Entitled "Dressing The Bit," it salutes the pioneers of the oil industry.
At the base of the statue are bronze plaques honoring four of those pioneers from right here in West Texas.
They include Bill Noel, E.G. Rodman, Senior, M.O. Boring, Junior, and former Odessa Mayor Billy Hext.
The statue is a project of the Heritage of Odessa Foundation.
