One Tall City Mayorial candidate voiced his disapproval towards the civil service proposition that's on the November ballot.

Wes Perry held a press conference Wednesday saying he's against the civil service proposition.

He says a civil service commission would be costly, and it's a move towards unionizing the police and fire departments.

"Well I'm a Midlander, I understand Midland, I've lived here all my life, this move to unionization is something I don't think Midlanders are wanting.  They want to elect a city council that manages the entire city.  With a commission like this, we lose that control," Perry said.

Perry's opponent Stephanie Sparkman says she is for civil service.
