EL PASO, Texas (AP) - A 17-year-old El Paso high school student has died after collapsing after taking a the Preliminary SAT exam.

Police and school officials haven't released the student's identity. They say he collapsed yesterday afternoon minutes after taking the scholarship qualification test at El Dorado High School in eastern El Paso. He was pronounced dead at an El Paso hospital.

Socorro school district Superintendent Sylvia Atkinson says the teen had been enrolled at the school for about three weeks. She says he'd complained of severe headaches Tuesday night, but she didn't have any other details of the boy's previous condition.

School officials say the boy's father was at the hospital with him Wednesday. His mother, who lives in California, had been notified by school officials.
