The brutal slayings of three Odessa police officers last month gained national attention, and on Monday a nationally known newspaper dedicated it's cover story to the crime.

The U.S.A. Today newspaper featured the deaths of Corporals Abel Marquez, Arlie Jones, and Scott Gardner.

The article discusses the hunter mentality among killers these days, and how it's raising concern across america.

The reporter, Kevin Johnson, also discusses how an increasing number of suspects is adopting a troubling disregard for police officers.

Johnson also uses statistics to show that officer deaths are up 54 percent this year compared with 2006.
