Odessa Police Department commended after fatal standoff

They handled a bad situation the right way.

That's what Texas Rangers are saying about the way the Odessa Police Department resolved a standoff that took three lives of three of their officers.

Negotiators were able to convince the suspected shooter to eventually surrender, bringing the already tense situation to an endpeacefully.  

Texas Rangers Captain Barry Caver said the Negotiators' professionalism helped avoid another potentially violent confrontation.

Larry Neil White is charged with three counts of Capital Murder, and three counts of attempted capital murder.  

Corporals Arlie Jones, John "Scott" Gardner, and Abel Marquez were killed.
