The Pecos County Sheriff's Department says their investigation of a woman found dead near Fort Stockton has been slow going.

The Sheriff says they have been trying to get as much information as they can on 26-year-old Tanya Michelle May.

They've been questioning friends and family members.

May's body was discovered a couple of weeks ago in an oil field 15 miles from Fort Stockton.

But the biggest challenge?

Waiting on those autopsy reports from Lubbock.

"As far as the DNA and stuff like that, it takes a bit longer to do, I mean, trying to find out what exactly happened to the body. The shape it was in when we found it and everything. It was so decomposed. Just preliminary looking at it, we had to wait until somebody at the autopsy to tell us the exact cause of death or anything," says Pecos County Sheriff Cliff Harris.

The Sheriff thinks may was murdered, because of evidence found at the scene.
