This weekend, one of Britney's sons was heard crying as he was placed in his car seat during an outing with his mother.
A Los Angeles family court judge ordered the pop star to surrender both her young sons to her ex, Kevin Federline.
The order grants K-Fed physical custody until further order of the court, starting Wednesday at noon.
It's unclear what led to the decision but earlier this month, the judge said Spears habitually used drugs and alcohol and ordered her to undergo random drug testing twice a week.
She was also sent to parenting classes, and told not to spank her boys.
Spears and Federline divorced in July after two and-a-half years of marriage, and agreed to share 50-50 custody of their boys, 2 year-old Sean Preston and 1 year-old Jayden James.
Federline has been fighting the pop star for a greater share of custody saying Britney's behavior has made him concerned for his children's safety.
Spears legal troubles don't end with her custody fight.
She's facing charges of misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid California driver's license in connection with an August accident in which the Paparazzi videotaped her hitting a parked car.
