HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - A Hobbs woman being held in the Lea County jail faces more than 100 counts of embezzlement.
The sheriff's office says 32-year-old Miriam Veronica Moreno was arrested (Tuesday) on 107 counts. She was already being held at the jail on 33 prior counts of embezzlement.
Authorities say Moreno had worked at Western Chrysler for about seven years.
While employed at the dealership, she allegedly was involved in a scheme of writing checks on a business account by forging the owner's name.
The amount allegedly embezzled is in access of $100,000.
Authorities accuse Moreno of making numerous transactions online through the use of a clearing house.
They say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
