Odessa - FSN's High School Scoreboard Live has picked the Permian-Lubbock Monterey game for their DQ Big Game of the Week.
These guys travel the state looking for the best match ups each week.
Every Friday game day starts with one of these, a pep rally, but Friday's is special, because once again Fox Sports Net is in the Basin, this time highlighting the Panthers versus the Plainsmen on the High School Scoreboard Live Show.
"It's very exciting, we're used to being in the spotlight, so it's nothing new to us, but we're all just very excited about it," said PHS cheerleader Holly Hudson.
And the excitement could be felt, with homecoming, and the big game of the week Friday morning's pep rally was full of school spirit, and anticipation for Friday Night's big game to be featured as the DQ Big Game of the Week on High School Scoreboard Live.
"Well I think our team is used to being in the spotlight, and this school certainly is, a lot of those things are peripheral for the team itself we have to worry about what goes on in between the lines, and all that attention doesn't mean much if you don't play well, so that's our goal to play well," said Panthers Head Coach Darren Allman.
Playing well is what the Panthers have been doing, and with Friday's rousing pep talk by Coach Ballew the Panthers are sure to go five and oh.
"To get them excited to go five and oh, we played Hawaii five oh, which is something we've done for quite a while now," said PHS coach Mike Ballew.
On Friday night, the guys from High School Scoreboard Live will bring you a first hand look at all that surrounds this big match up from Lubbock to Odessa, an event that is special for the Permian Coaching staff.
"There are so many great high schools in Texas here, and to choose us and Lubbock out of all the other games going on it's a great honor to be chosen to do that," said Ballew.
"It's something that comes with the territory when you're at Permian. I think our players and coaches realize that as long as everyone keeps that in perspective, and keeps the main thing, which is playing good when its time to play the game, then we're good," said Allman.
When the show airs you'll get a rare glimpse inside the locker room from either pre-game or during halftime, just one of the highlights of the game of the week.
High School Scoreboard Live airs Friday Night at midnight on FSN Southwest and replays Saturday at 11.
