MIDLAND- All across America, video gamers are gearing up to buy the third game in a series, some say revolutionized gaming. Halo 3 will hit stores at midnight, Tuesday.
"The graphics are just going to be out of this world," said Halo fan, Chris Cox.
According to Microsoft, stores in the U.S. have pre-sold 1.5 million copies. At the Best Buy in Midland, Customer Experience Manager Troy Scott, says compared to other pre-sold video games, Halo is outselling 2 to 1.
"It will definitely be the biggest video game release this year," said Scott, who says the latest installment has superior graphics, "It's an adventure and players are doing things they normally wouldn't do in real life."
The game is a fantasy land where players protect the world from Aliens who are trying to control a ring called the "Halo."
"It's on the new system, Xbox 360, and its two predecessors were considered ground breaking in their day," said Larry Tall, a fan of the series. "Everyone has been wanting Halo Three since Halo two came out, and since tomorrow it is. I think it's going to be the big one."
Game Stop and Hastings around the Basin hosted midnight sales. Best Buy along with Clear Wire, will host a Halo tournament Tuesday.
"It's a community in and of itself, people that play Halo, they get online, and it's just like sitting around watching a game with your buddies," said Cox.
