MIDLAND- Governor Rick Perry, (R) Texas made a stop in Midland, to drop off a Texas Education Excellence Grant, totaling $75,000 dollars. The TEEG program is designed to offer incentives to teachers who work at low income schools with improving TAKS scores.

"It's wonderful to be able to reward teachers for their hard work," said Principal Dolores Cano, who says this is the second year the school received the honor, "It doesn't divide us. It's not like I am working for my little piece of the pie. It's we are working together as a team."

Along with Crockett, Dezavala, El Magnet at Hays, Gale Pond Alamo, Milam, Travis, Sam Houston, San Jacinto earned bonuses totalling a little over a half million dollars.
