SANTA FE (AP) - A 34-year-old inmate man has entered into a plea agreement in a case in which he originally was charged with first-degree murder in the death of another prisoner three years ago in the Santa Fe County jail.

Daniel Good ended his trial by pleading no contest to two counts of aggravated battery causing death and two counts of intimidating a witness.

The plea (Friday) came five days into a trial that had been expected to last a month.

State District Judge Tim Garcia immediately sentenced him to 20 years in prison, and recommended Good serve the term in an out-of-state prison because of threats against him.

Good was charged in the June 2004 beating death of inmate Dickie Ortega of Chimayo.
