One Texas Lawmaker wants to make tax free weekend, a two weekend event.

State Comptroller Susan Combs and State Senator Rodney Ellis, joined forces along with the Representatives of the Texas Retailers Association Thursday morning in Austin.

Senator Ellis' proposal would also make all school supplies exempt from state tax during the sales tax holiday.

"I believe the proposed changes by senator ellis will have a very beneficial affect on all texas families. And again, I want to reiterate again, that this is very good public policy," Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said.

The most recent tax free holiday saved Texans over 40-million dollars.

If this proposal passes, it will start in August of 2009, the conclusion of the next legislative session.
