"The first thing that happens when people don't relax, and don't try to relieve their stress levels. Is it's just going to turn into diseases. Hypertension, strokes, heart attacks, there it is," explained Yvonne Alderson, with Healthy Inspirations.
That's why at Healthy Inspirations in Odessa, women are taught to exercise regularly, and to use natural techniques to relax. They said nearly everyone can relieve stress daily.
"Starting off trying to get prepared for your day, before the day begins, and giving yourself maybe 10 minutes whether it's in the shower or whatever it may be to relax," said Alderson.
Whether it's by watching nature, or spending time with loved ones, or hanging out in the pool, everybody's got they're own method to stress relief.
"Recliner, just recline," said one Odessan.
"Well I stay at home, stay in the backyard, water my lawn, stuff like that," explained another.
"I got a family of seven, you know, and that's kind of hard, you know, that's stress by itself if you think about it, but hey, it's just a word right now you know. I just keep going," said another Odessa resident.So, no matter what you like to do to relax and relieve stress, it's important to take those 10 to 15 minutes a day just to relax. And maybe if all West Texans did that, we could celebrate national relaxation day everyday.
