MIDLAND- Leaving your child in the hands of others may now be a little easier with the help of a tool provided by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
"I think parents today look at two things they look at cost but we also want to make sure they are cared for in the safest and most appropriate place," said Marleigh Meisner, public information officer for the Texas Department of Family Protective Services.
Cindy Lee, a child care licensing specialist checks up on day cares in the basin and recommends parents check out the department's website with a list of recent visits and violations to all Texas Day Care facilities.

Chila Houston used the online resource,, and was able to locate the right facility for her twin boys, when she started searching last year.

"I wanted to look at the most recent inspection and to know what those centers were cited for to see if it was very severe or minor and that's how I made my decision," said Houston, "You are entrusting the day care center with the lives of your children, so you want to make sure they are abiding by the rules and laws of the state of Texas."
