E.C.I.S.D. to begin search to fill empty district seat next week

The Ector County School Board, also trying to fill a vacant spot on the Board.

Renda Berryhill moved out of West Odessa, the district she represented.

Now board members are taking applications to fill the position.

They'll start interviewing candidates a week from today.

In the process, officials with the League of United Latin Amercian Citizens, or L.U.L.A.C. are asking them to look for someone who understands the district.

"We would like to see someone who understands the culture, the problems that we have with Hispanic children in the school system," Christine Salazar of L.U.L.A.C. said.

L.U.L.A.C. officials say they think the district has not been well represented.
