New information on a nearly half a million dollar contract buy out approved for outgoing Midland City Manager Rick Menchaca.

The city tells NewsWestNnine the money will come out of a general liability insurance fund.

They say they carry insurance to cover situations like this.

On Tuesday, the City Council voted unanimously to buy out Menchaca's contract for a little over 481-thousand dollars.

Menchaca recently left his position amidst controversy involving the police chief leaving, and other issues.

He will get the lump sum of cash on August 1st.

The deal officially severs the city's ties with Menchaca.
