A former Midland soldier could get the death penalty, if convicted of raping and killing a 14 year old Iraqi girl then killing her family.

That's according to papers filed by Federal prosecutors.

Steven green was indicted on murder and rape charges.

Military officials say it happened back in March of last year.

He was discharged from the Army.

The Associated Press reports, steven green was diagnosed as a homicidal threat by doctors three months before the crime was committed.

Green said he was angry about the war, desperate to avenge the death of comrades, and driven to kill Iraqi citizens.

Medical records indicate he was given small doses of a mood regulating drug to help him sleep.
