No smoking and no cockfighting.

Two tough new laws went into effect in New Mexico on Friday.

One law bans smoking near entry ways and windows of offices and other businesses.

It also bans smoking in restaurants and bars.

However, it does not apply to casinos or cigar bars.

The other law makes cockfighting illegal.

However, cockfighters plan to file a lawsuit challenging the ban as early as next week.

Many think the sport is likely to go underground in the state.
