LOVINGTON, NM (KWES) - Lovington Police have arrested a man following an investigation of a shooting and home invasion incident.

Gabriel Sebastian Ruiz, 20, was arrested Tuesday. He is facing six charges, including shooting at a dwelling resulting in great bodily harm, tampering with evidence and contributing to delinquency of a minor.

Police responded to the 300 block of North Eddy Street in Lovington just after 11 a.m. on October 9.

Investigators found the incident was part of a dispute between two groups of people who knew each other, meaning it was not a random home invasion.

Two people were detained shortly after officers arrived. Another person, a juvenile, was injured during the dispute and taken to a hospital in Texas.

Ruiz is being held at the Lea County Detention Center without bond pending appearance before a judge.

If you have any information relating to this incident you are asked to call Lovington police at 575-396-2811 or Lea County Crime Stoppers at 575-393-8005.
