ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Tuesday the Ector County ISD Board of Trustees held their October Work Study to hear updates on several events and issues in the district.
During the meeting, trustees voted 6-0 to approve the contract with the Ector County Elections Office to conduct the November 6 tax ratification election. On the ballot, the school district item will appear as Ector County Independent School District Proposition A, a tax increase to support the day-to-day operations of the District. Chief Technology Officer Kellie Wilks and Interim Superintendent Jim Nelson informed the board that they are close to announcing a private donation of 1,470 Chromebook laptops. These would be rolled out to five of the middles schools, nearly 300 per campus.
Trustees also discussed the implementation of steps being taken to increase literacy, and the steps being taken to recruit teachers.
