ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Thursday evening the lights turned on at Ratliff stadium but it wasn't an ordinary football game.
St. Mary's Central Catholic School dedicated their game to 9-year-old Elias Delagarza who died in a car crash along with his sister Kassandra Delagarza and mother Araceli Galbadon.
They were hit by a driver who was illegally racing in West Odessa.
"The kids today, football players, cheerleaders they all wanted to dedicate this game to him and we are going to be doing a sendoff for him with a tribute of balloons," Benjamin Villareal, principal St.Mary's Central Catholic School said.
A classmate that sat next to him had this to say about her last memories of him.
"He always used to make funny dances and he used to always make random songs until he got in that car wreck, and Monday I was sick the last couple of day and that was the last time I got to see him," Emery Rojo, Classmate of Elias, said.
"They are at the root of our Catholic school which is Catholicism and universality and the students are staying in faith and staying strong," Villareal said.
