ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The UTPB Falcons lost in their home opener and Lone Star Conference opener on Saturday 43-21 to #7 ranked Midwestern State. True freshman quarterback Taylor Null got the start for the Falcons and UTPB got on the board first but couldn't close it out. While the Falcons are 0-3, head coach Justin Carrigan believes it doesn't portray how the team has been playing.
"I think we're light years ahead of where we were a year ago and obviously two years ago. We still have to get over that hump though and it just comes down to, I don't want to say belief our guys believe but it's having an unwavering belief. When times get tough we still have to believe that we're going to come out on top. And having that fight and that grit and the ability to push through are something we're still kind of looking for," said Carrigan.
The Falcons play on the road this week at Tarleton State.
