ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

A post circulating on Facebook has been claiming a new city ordinance in Odessa called for all puppies and owner surrenders to be euthanized immediately upon intake.

The post caused quite a stir on Facebook, but according to the Odessa Animal Shelter this post is false.

According to the shelter the policy has not changed and no such ordinance has been issued.

The shelter did warn that there is always a possibility due to high intake rates or other factors that animals could be immediately euthanized. However they continuously make an effort to ensure that animals find a home or go to a rescue.
