HOWARD COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Tuesday, Russ Rutledge contacted the Howard County Sheriff's Office after an attempted scam.

According to authorities, Lucia Hernandez contacted Rutledge through Facebook messenger and tried to convince him that he knew her personally.

Hernandez then told Rutledge to send her $4,800 or she would send videos to his friends showing he was a pedophile but Rutledge refused.

Rutledge then reported the incident to the Sheriff's office but Wednesday the Facebook account of Lucia Hernandez began sending videos depicting Rutledge in compromising situations.

The Sheriff's office confirmed the videos are fake and were an attempt to extort money.

Authorities are working with the Department of Homeland Security to track the origin of the videos and the person responsible.
