OPD asking for public’s help identifying man who attempted to kidnap minor

OPD obtained surveillance footage of a suspect who attempted to abduct an 11-year-old boy Tuesday evening in front of Lowe's La Tienda.

Odessa Police was called to Lowes Tuesday evening, where they were told an unknown male subject attempted to abduct an 11-year-old male.

According to police, two boys were waiting at the store after missing the bus at Ector Middle School. While the boys were waiting, the unknown male exited the store and began watching them. He approached the boys, grabbed the 11-year-old by the arm and started to walk away with him.

The other boy got in front of the unknown suspect and told him to let the other boy go. The suspect let go of the 11-year-old and was last seen walking westbound on Clements. The two boys immediately ran inside and asked someone to call the police.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his 50’s, wearing old jeans, a long sleeve shirt with stripes, and sunglasses.
